FlossPoint FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is FlossPoint?

FlossPoint is a movement-based tissue loading system that combines controlled compression with directional shear. It's designed to change how tissue behaves during movement—not just how it feels at rest.

How is FlossPoint different from traditional floss bands?

Traditional floss bands apply compression. FlossPoint adds directional shear through removable ShearPoints.

Compression alone flattens tissue under load. Directional shear introduces force along a specific vector while you move, allowing tissue interfaces to interact rather than compress uniformly.

That difference changes what's possible during movement.

How is FlossPoint different from massage guns and recovery tools?

Most recovery tools work on tissue at rest. They change sensation temporarily but don't involve load or movement while the input is applied.

FlossPoint is used during active movement. Compression and directional shear are applied while joints move and tissue is under load. The goal isn't to feel better in the moment—it's to influence how tissue responds once movement resumes.

What does "directional shear" mean?

Directional shear means applying force along a specific direction while tissue is compressed and moving.

Instead of pressing straight down, you're introducing a vector. Combined with compression and joint motion, this allows tissue interfaces to interact in ways that uniform pressure does not.

How does FlossPoint work?

FlossPoint creates a controlled mechanical environment during movement:

Compression engages tissue. ShearPoints introduce directional force. Active joint motion allows tissue interfaces to interact while load is present.

The result: tissue experiences a mechanical input it doesn't encounter through compression or movement alone.

Where should I use FlossPoint?

FlossPoint is commonly applied to areas exposed to repeated load and movement:

  • Ankles
  • Knees
  • Calves and Achilles region
  • Plantar fascia
  • Elbows and forearms
  • Wrists

Place ShearPoints where tissue feels least responsive during movement—not simply where discomfort is felt.

How do I use FlossPoint?

  1. Place ShearPoints over the target area
  2. Wrap with moderate tension (snug, not maximal)
  3. Perform controlled joint movement for 30–90 seconds
  4. Remove completely and reassess movement before continuing

Short duration. Specific intent. Complete removal between applications.

Is FlossPoint safe?

FlossPoint is intended for short-duration use only.

Avoid excessive pressure, numbness, or prolonged wrapping. If discomfort occurs, reduce tension or remove the ShearPoints immediately.

This is a loading tool, not a passive intervention. Use it accordingly.

Who is FlossPoint for?

FlossPoint is designed for athletes and clinical training environments where movement quality and load tolerance matter.

It's intended for intentional use during warm-ups, training, or rehabilitation—not passive recovery.

What is FlossPoint not designed to do?

FlossPoint is not a massage tool.

It is not a pain-treatment device.

It is not a replacement for strength training, rehabilitation, or progressive loading.
